Free Websites to Find Your Money

What’s better than finding money? Here are two free online tools to help you find your money or life insurance policy, whether or not you even knew it was missing…

MissingMoney

Check MissingMoney, an easily searchable database, to see if you or your late spouse have unclaimed property or assets anywhere in the United States or Canada. This can happen if a company, for example a bank or utility company, owes you money and then lost track of you because you moved. If there is a common misspelling for your name, make sure to search for that too!

When I found unclaimed assets for my husband in Connecticut, after filing an initial claim online, I then had to submit a death certificate, probate certificate from the probate court and notarized claim form. The process to claim my own assets was much more simple, thankfully.

Lost Life Insurance Policy Finder

If you can’t find the paperwork for your spouse’s life insurance policy or you’re unsure if they had one, check Citizens Life Group’s Lost Life Insurance Policy Finder tool. This free, interactive tool walks widowed spouses through all 10 methods for tracking down a missing policy, with links to the NAIC locator, all 50 state unclaimed property databases, and a printable checklist.
