Podcasts for Widowed Parents
If you search your podcast library for “widow” or “widower,” many results pop up, but more target widows than widowers. Here are just a few examples of podcasts, including their official show descriptions in the Apple podcast app, and my take on those that I’ve listened to.

It’s a question we ask (and get asked) all the time: “How are you?” And normally we just respond with “Fine!” even if we’re totally dying inside, so everyone can go about their day. But it’s not always all that fine, is it? Terrible, Thanks for Asking is a show by author Nora McInerny that lets real people get real honest about how they’re really doing. It’s sometimes sad, sometimes funny, and almost always both.
My opinion: This podcast offers inspirational stories about people who have survived tough times, but does not specifically target widowed parents.

The Widowed Parent Podcast is your guide to “only-parenting” after the loss of a spouse. Host Jenny Lisk, who lost her own husband to brain cancer when her kids were 9 & 11, sets out each week in search of the best information, advice, and experts, and brings them straight to you. Whether you listen at the gym, on your commute, or walking the dog, we hope you’ll join us for inspiration, empowerment, and connection.
My opinion: This podcast is great for widowed parents who want tips and inspiration from people who have been in their shoes.

The Widowed Mom Podcast offers practical and empowering strategies for widowed moms who believe in the possibility of loving life again but sometimes worry their best days are behind them. Widower’s Journey Podcast is part of a support network for men who have been widowed or lost a spouse or life partner. Author Herb Knoll discovered upon losing his wife to cancer, that there were really no support services available to grieving men. He wrote a book “The Widower’s Journey” as a way to help other men who were going through the same situation. It was followed by a Facebook group that now serves over 1,800 in 38 countries. This podcast features interviews with widowers and experts, and provides a community for men growing through this difficult time, with followers in 44 countries.
